The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in the steel sector, enabling them to accurately assess project costs through meticulous analysis of blueprints, specifications, and proposals. A strong attention to detail, exceptional analytical capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of the steel fabrication process are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate blueprints, specifications, and project proposals to generate comprehensive cost estimates for steel fabrication initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of material, labor, and vendor expenses to ensure all necessary resources are available based on design and client specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and project management teams to deliver precise and competitive estimates.
  • Identify and quantify cost elements, including production timelines, materials, and labor costs.
  • Prepare and present detailed, itemized cost breakdowns to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a historical cost database and estimating benchmarks.
  • Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure they meet project specifications.
  • Offer value engineering alternatives to optimize project expenses while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor current and past bids, providing updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and construction methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in steel structures, construction, and fabrication.
  • Proficient in CAD and Blue Beam software.
  • Strong ability to interpret and understand structural designs and drawings.
  • Familiarity with the project lifecycle from bidding to close-out.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $80,000 plus depending on experience.
  • Onsite role with travel between local job sites.
  • 401(k) plan with matching contributions.

  • Three weeks of vacation annually.
