Job Description:

  • Provide high-quality care for patients in Phase I Recovery, including pediatric cases, with a focus on critical care principles.
  • Handle general and complex surgeries/procedures in a Level 1 Trauma center, occasionally boarding ICU patients awaiting hospital beds, with a focus on critical care standards.
  • Care for patients undergoing cath lab procedures with anesthesia, such as TAVR, ablations, and pacemaker insertions, with a focus on critical care protocols.
  • Utilize equipment and systems such as EPIC and OP TIME, with a focus on critical care documentation.
  • Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients in Phase I Recovery, and 1 RN to 3-4 patients in Phase III Recovery, with a focus on critical care staffing.
  • Adhere to call shift requirements, including three overnight call shifts in a 6-week period, with a focus on critical care scheduling.
  • Work within a total of 50 beds across multiple PACU units, including Adult, Pediatric, GI, and MRI PACUs, with a focus on critical care environments.
  • Wear surgical scrubs provided by the facility, with a focus on critical care attire.
  • Undergo orientation to main PACU areas in a fast-paced, critical care environment with acute level care equivalent to ICU standards, with a focus on critical care training.
  • Do not float outside of the recovery room area; float only within the designated PACU sites, with a focus on critical care staffing.
