Position Overview:


The role involves utilizing medical ultrasound technology to assist patients based on physician directives while adhering to the professional standards set by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

The individual in this position will be responsible for the setup, operation, and movement of ultrasound equipment, ensuring that patient care is tailored to individual needs.

Supervised by the Radiology Medical Director, the technologist will follow established patient assessment and treatment protocols as per organizational policies.

The position requires the provision of patient assessment data to the Radiologist as necessary. The technologist must be certified in Basic Life Support and will provide assistance when required. It is essential to accurately document all procedural information in the patient's medical records, including PACS. Effective communication and behavior must align with the core values and mission of Christus Health.

Key Responsibilities:
Meets the expectations outlined in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Conducts a variety of high-quality ultrasound examinations with minimal supervision, utilizing diagnostic imaging equipment.
Records calibration processes for individual imaging devices.
Organizes, plans, and makes swift decisions regarding urgent cases; assesses and acts to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Assists the Radiologist in executing invasive biopsy procedures using ultrasound technology to accurately locate diseased areas for specimen collection and diagnosis.

Ensures all procedures are properly billed and submits all charges at the end of the day for accurate billing.

Maintains the ultrasound room with adequate supplies, checks the status of equipment and computers for operational readiness, reports any issues that may disrupt workflow, and ensures corrective measures are implemented to maintain workflow continuity.

Must be capable of performing all tasks as outlined, including any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor or manager on duty.

Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned patient care tasks in a manner that meets the specific developmental and population-related needs of the patients served by the department. Appropriately modifies patient assessments to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, and age-specific needs of each patient.

Performs other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program or an equivalent recognized qualification required.
Minimum of one year of scanning experience in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Breast Ultrasound preferred.
ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in Abdomen required within one year.
LRST/ARRT Radiologic Technology License preferred.
Certification in OB/GYN or Breast preferred.
Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
