Job Summary

The Oral Surgery Assistant is a vital member of our clinical team, responsible for assisting the dentist in various clinical and administrative duties. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of oral surgery procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting the Dentist
    • Prepare patients for procedures or exams
    • Sterilize and disinfect instruments
    • Set up instrument trays
    • Prepare materials and assist during dental procedures
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Appointment scheduling
    • Charting and filing
    • Preparing patient charts and updating dental records
  • Surgical Support
    • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials, and equipment
    • Assist the surgeon with chairside procedures
    • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs
  • Patient Care
    • Provide patients with information on oral health care and treatment plans
    • Monitor stock of surgical supplies and medication
    • Ensure instruments and equipment are effectively maintained
Qualifications
  • Oral and maxillofacial surgical assistant certification (preferred)
  • Dental assistant certification where required
  • X-ray/Radiography certification
  • Nitrous oxide certification (preferred)
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, BLS, and infection control training
  • Experience with relevant dental software
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of oral surgery assisting experience (preferred)
