Job SummaryThe Oral Surgery Assistant is a vital member of our clinical team, responsible for assisting the dentist in various clinical and administrative duties. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of oral surgery procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting the Dentist
- Prepare patients for procedures or exams
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments
- Set up instrument trays
- Prepare materials and assist during dental procedures
- Administrative Tasks
- Appointment scheduling
- Charting and filing
- Preparing patient charts and updating dental records
- Surgical Support
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials, and equipment
- Assist the surgeon with chairside procedures
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs
- Patient Care
- Provide patients with information on oral health care and treatment plans
- Monitor stock of surgical supplies and medication
- Ensure instruments and equipment are effectively maintained
- Oral and maxillofacial surgical assistant certification (preferred)
- Dental assistant certification where required
- X-ray/Radiography certification
- Nitrous oxide certification (preferred)
- Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, BLS, and infection control training
- Experience with relevant dental software
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of oral surgery assisting experience (preferred)
