About the Role:

The Behavioral Health Associate I is a vital member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, responsible for monitoring and reporting client behaviors, providing continuous care and supervision, and assisting with data collection and maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure client wellbeing and provide a safe, positive environment.
  • Conduct safety checks and supervise clients according to individualized guidelines.
  • Manage client valuables and belongings, and interact with clients to promote interest in recreational activities.
  • Engage with clients in activities and interactions designed to encourage treatment goal achievement.
  • Facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups covering topics such as social skills, coping skills, and independent living skills.
  • Take and record vital signs, and communicate significant changes in client condition to the charge nurse.
  • Document client records timely, accurately, and appropriately.
  • Apply de-escalation techniques to manage client emotions and behavior.
  • Assist with unit cleaning, organization, and discharge process.
  • Provide transfer or transportation for clients, and coordinate with staff as needed.
  • Provide verbal report to the oncoming shift, and serve as a resource for new clients.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months or more experience working with the specific population preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation certification required.
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
