In this role, you will be responsible for building a new AWS service that will be a game-changer in the machine learning and generative AI field.

This is an area that requires solving complex engineering challenges to enable machine learning powered solutions for our customers.

Experience with machine learning systems is a plus, but not required.

You will deliver some of our most strategic technical projects, design new software systems at the cutting edge of distributed database technology, and have a significant bottom-line impact on our business and competitive position.

In addition to delivering critical software, you will draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers and provide leadership on complex technical issues.

This position within the AWS Bedrock team presents a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast-growing business and help shape the technology, product, and the business.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and Mentor a Talented Team:
    • You will manage and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
    • Your leadership skills will be pivotal in guiding the team through complex challenges and ensuring their professional growth.
  • Drive Technical Vision and Strategy:
    • As the SDM, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical vision and strategy for the team.
    • You will work closely with stakeholders, product managers, and scientists to align your roadmap with business objectives.
  • Agile Methodologies and DevOps Practices:
    • You will champion agile methodologies and DevOps practices within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automated testing, operational excellence, and efficient software delivery and release.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including the Science team and product partners.
    • Effective collaboration and communication skills are essential in this role to ensure alignment and seamless integration of efforts.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company.

Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
