Clinical Faculty in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery

Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia, within the Department of Surgery, is actively seeking a dedicated full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor specializing in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery. Candidates must possess board certification or eligibility in General Surgery, complemented by additional fellowship training in Trauma and/or Surgical Critical Care. This position is situated within a robust academic medical center recognized as a Level 1 Trauma Center, which handles a significant volume of trauma cases annually.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and enhance clinical practice in the domain of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery.
  • Boost clinic attendance and surgical volumes pertaining to Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery.
  • Engage in the on-call schedule alongside the Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery divisions.
  • Instruct and mentor general surgery residents in the areas of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery.


Qualifications

MD/DO degree or equivalent; candidates should be board eligible in general surgery and Trauma and Acute Care Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, with additional fellowship training in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery; a minimum of 5 years in general surgery residency and an additional year of fellowship in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery.

Assistant Professor- Entry-level faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.

Associate Professor- Mid-level faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent training and experience.

Professor- Senior faculty member with a minimum of five years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent training and experience.

Compensation and Benefits

This role is structured on a fiscal year basis, requiring year-round commitment.

The position is classified as full-time with an intended work commitment of 1.0 FTE.

Compensation for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor ranks will be aligned with education, experience, and achievements, subject to fund availability.
