POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security and Safety Operations Specialist is responsible for executing various leadership, security, and safety tasks, which include training, investigations, report assessments, compliance audits, management of security systems and equipment, and ensuring a secure environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Provides training and ongoing development for all Security and Safety personnel.
+ Conducts specialized training for new team members during orientation.
+ Communicates all security-related directives and initiatives to store management and staff as necessary.
+ Guides and mentors team leaders in providing performance feedback for security personnel.
+ Exhibits outstanding customer service when interacting with customers or staff in potentially suspicious situations.
+ Oversees the safety of vehicles and parking areas to maintain a secure environment for all stakeholders.
+ Performs exit checks to ensure that merchandise protection measures are followed.
+ Promotes a strong commitment to security programs among all staff and vendors.
+ Conducts investigations into known losses and reviews exception reports.
+ Leads inquiries into criminal activities, policy breaches, illicit actions, workplace incidents, and losses.
+ Gathers information and conducts interviews as authorized.
+ Monitors compliance with firearms policies and procedures.
+ Ensures that all security and asset protection systems are operational and well-maintained.
+ Assists other locations or performs additional responsibilities as directed by management.
+ Identifies and addresses security, safety, environmental, and regulatory concerns proactively.
+ Conducts apprehensions for suspected theft when trained and authorized according to company guidelines.
+ Aids store leadership in promoting safety initiatives to foster a secure workplace.
+ Monitors adherence to physical security and merchandise protection standards.
+ Prepares comprehensive and accurate reports promptly.
+ Regular and punctual attendance is required.
+ Must possess or be able to obtain any necessary certifications or licenses as mandated by law.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
+ Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Environmental Safety, or a related field from an accredited institution.
+ Certifications: Nationally recognized training programs (e.g., Wicklander-Zulawski or Reed training), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Loss Prevention Certified/Qualified (LPC/LPQ) are preferred.
+ Experience: At least three years of relevant experience in facility security or asset protection.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
+ Proven experience in conducting criminal or internal investigations is required.
+ Proficiency in utilizing physical security systems (CCTV, EAS, etc.) is essential.
+ Experience in performing quality reviews and audits is necessary.
+ Current AHA First Aid/CPR/AED certification is preferred.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
+ Performs responsibilities within the framework of general company policies and objectives. Analyzes issues and conducts needs assessments. Exercises judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired outcomes.

+ Regularly engages in computer work, walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
