Polysomnography Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnography Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. As a Polysomnography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing technical duties in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of Polysomnographic equipment, including the acquisition, scoring, and report generation of polysomnographic data.
Key Responsibilities- Explain procedures, tests, and treatment trials to patients, and ensure they understand the paperwork and documentation required.
- Attach electrodes in standard manner according to established protocol, and measure head using international 10-20 electrode placement system.
- Perform in-bed procedures, treatment trials, bio-calibrations, CPAP/Bilevel PAP titrations, and adjust sensors as required.
- Initiate biological recording and video recording, monitor recordings during overnight, and perform required computer-related procedures.
- Document interactions with patients, fill out tech summaries, and forward them to appropriate personnel.
- Stay alert and involved with recordings, recognize aberrant physiological activity, and address interventions in a timely manner.
- Clean and set up equipment for next use, replace electrodes and sensors in disrepair, and transfer information as needed.
- Notify supervisors of problems, alert others to improperly functioning equipment or low supplies, and attempt troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions.
- Education: NYS licensed and/or nationally accredited educational program under Polysomnography grandparent provision prior to February 3, 2014, or successful completion of an approved Polysomnography education program or Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- CPR or Basic Life Support certification.
- 1-2 years of experience working as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
