MSAD Intermittent Residential Educator

Minnesota State Academies is seeking a qualified individual to fill substitute dormitory staff (Human Services Technician) vacancies at the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. This position provides direct care supervision of students in the residential dormitories on the Academy for the Deaf campus.
Responsibilities- Provide direct care supervision of students in the residential dormitories
- Establish rapport with and provide direction to students residing in the dormitories
- Perform emergency procedures and personal safety techniques
- Work with students in an educational and/or dormitory setting as a caregiver
- Knowledge or experience working with students in an educational and/or dormitory setting as a caregiver
- Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and to maintain records and documentation
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in conversational sign language
- Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with and provide direction to students residing in the dormitories
- Experience working with deaf/hard of hearing students in a dormitory setting
- Demonstration of advanced sign language
- A criminal background check
