We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the Town of Front Royal, VA. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our Wastewater Treatment Plant and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment, including pumps, motors, and control panels.
- Monitor and record plant operations, including gauges, meters, and laboratory tests.
- Assist in calibrating meters and performing routine maintenance on equipment.
- Collect and analyze wastewater and sludge samples.
- Regulate and adjust plant operations to meet changing conditions.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and assist in writing reports.
- Unload and store chemical supplies and clean and service equipment.
- Perform building and grounds maintenance duties.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.
- General knowledge of Wastewater Treatment Plant operations and maintenance.
- Ability to perform routine monitoring of plant operations and identify needed control procedures.
- Ability to operate and maintain Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment.
- Ability to perform process control calculations.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to keep written records.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
Physical DemandsThis is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
