Job Title: General Manager

Bodycote is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our ADE East plant in South Windsor, CT.

Job Summary:

This is a leadership role that requires full accountability for the performance of all aspects of safety, quality, on-time delivery, and Profit and Loss (P&L) performance.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the plant to achieve or exceed safety, quality, service, cost, business development, and sales growth goals.
  2. Responsible for achieving superior customer service, driving sales growth, and local business development.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  4. Manage and develop the plant leadership team to strengthen and develop leadership skills and management skills.
  5. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and depth are maintained throughout the plant.
  6. Set the standard and drive operational excellence throughout the plant.
  7. Collaborate with various business functions, including customers, quality, technical support, engineering support, and finance.
  8. Contribute to the development and deployment of systemic improvements to enhance the safety, quality, capacity, and capability of Bodycote's technical business processes within the plant.
  9. Drive a dominant culture of customer service throughout the plant.
  10. Plan and manage capital equipment, including plant layouts, capital planning, and deployment.
  11. Manage workforce planning and forecasting, employee hiring and training, and ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Education: Completion of BA or BS in business, technology, or related field, or equivalent; MS/MA degree in business or technical field preferred.
  • Eight years of heat treat experience in management or equivalent experience in technical management.
  • Minimum of 12 years of industrial and/or relatable leadership experience within a complex industrial or operations environment.
  • At least 10 years of experience utilizing lean concepts with a proven track record of lean/Six Sigma project implementation.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proactive management of labor performance and appropriately handling of employee issues as they arise.
  • Excellent Project Management skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong management skills, including the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision, strengths in goal setting, delegation, coaching, and motivating.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, team building, and recruitment is desired.
  • Desired experience in industrial environments, industrial engineering, and supervisory experience in the aerospace/defense industry.
  • Familiarity with AMS and MIL standards, ISO , MAAP Policy, AS6500, and related Aerospace and Defense standards.
Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods in an office/industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
