As a Senior Underwriter, you will have the chance to advance your career while underwriting both new and renewal business. You will operate under limited supervision, applying The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within your delegated authority on complex accounts. We prioritize customer relationships and seek a candidate who excels in building strong connections and possesses a notable market presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively pursue renewal and new business opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth potential.
  • Evaluate accounts to align with the organization's appetite while balancing sound business opportunities.
  • Engage in agent/broker/customer visits with a well-prepared agenda.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions effectively to finalize agreements.
  • Cross-sell additional lines of business to enhance product density within accounts.
  • Participate in sales meetings related to assigned brokers or territories.
  • Engage proactively in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities well in advance of effective dates.
  • Maintain accurate records of broker/client interactions and account statuses in required systems.
  • Serve as the primary contact for designated target accounts.
  • Develop robust networks with brokers and clients relevant to the industries served by the business unit.
  • Utilize underwriting tools to accurately calculate target pricing.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, Finance, Accounting, or Banking.
  • Alternatively, a High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 10 years of experience in Claims, Underwriting Finance, Accounting, or Banking.
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3 years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8 years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working under time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • CPCU designation.
  • Advanced understanding of Excess Liability product lines.
  • Established broker/customer relationships in the Southeast region.
  • Experience with underwriting Property & Casualty lines.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong presentation capabilities.
  • Results-driven mindset.
