Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment intervention, and psycho-education to members and/or family members. You will work with specific age groups as determined by your training and certification. You must be familiar with all aspects of psychopathology and recognize the appropriate and timely clinical treatment intervention needed.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Competencies: Timely and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of members.
  • Appropriate selection of treatment modality to members presenting problem.
  • Effective communication of clinical material to member and clinical staff.
  • High internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Expertise in a variety of treatment methodologies.
  • Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in members' charts.
  • Knowledge of KP and community resources.
  • Adherence to all mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and license.
  • Maintenance of license.
  • Initial interview with members by eliciting and interpreting the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
  • Determination of urgency of members' need.
  • Professional interpretation of members' presentation and recommendation of a course of therapeutic action, selection of appropriate treatment modality.
  • Provision of treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Rendering of appropriate and immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis or in need of clinical services.
  • Maintenance of written record of therapy, preparation of reports and letters, phone calls, writing, and visits (with member permission) to social agencies, schools, relatives, friends to obtain pertinent information.
  • Provision of clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
  • Provision of telephone assessment, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
  • Proficiency in identifying and treating the span of developmental stages.
  • Proficiency in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
  • Compliance with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines, and all regulatory agency policies and procedures.
  • Participation in QM and CQI activities.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five (5) years required.
  • Master's degree in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health required.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California)
  • National Provider Identifier
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature required.
  • Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Noted:
  • Two evenings required (5:00 pm - 7:00 pm).
