About the Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Social Service Worker - Foster Care Specialist. In this role, you will work closely with birth families, foster families, and adoptive families to provide support and services that promote the well-being and stability of children.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct services to children, biological families, foster families, and adoptive families, including case management, counseling, and advocacy.
- Develop and implement individualized case plans that address the unique needs of each family.
- Collaborate with community agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support for families.
- Conduct home visits, phone calls, and other meetings to assess family needs and provide support.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records and reports.
- Participate in court hearings and other legal proceedings as needed.
- Provide training and education to foster families on topics such as child development, parenting, and trauma-informed care.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and services to ensure access to necessary support for families.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
- One year of experience working with children and families in a social service setting.
- Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and trauma-informed care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Michigan driver's license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
