Job Title: Substance Abuse Counselor

Comunilife is seeking an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to join its team in the Bronx. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing individual, family, and group substance abuse counseling and advocacy to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial and annual substance abuse assessments to identify clients' needs and develop comprehensive service plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group substance abuse counseling to clients, including advocacy and referrals to community-based programs as needed.
  • Monitor clients' attendance at programs and provide documentation of all contacts.
  • Collaborate with clients and staff to develop and revise service plans, including identifying mutually agreed-upon long and short-term substance abuse-related goals.
  • Participate in training, workshops, seminars, and case conferences as required.
Requirements:
  • Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or CASAC-T or LCSW with three to five years of substance abuse counseling experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with HIV/AIDS, chronic mental illness, and/or chemical dependence and their families is a plus.
  • Bilingual - Spanish is a plus.
