Job Summary

The Springfield Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Food Service Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our food service department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our food service staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our cafeterias and kitchens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory Management: Assist in the administration of the food service inventory and asset management system, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of food service devices and equipment.
  • Helpdesk Support: Provide technical support and assistance to food service staff, prioritizing and escalating helpdesk issues as needed, and utilizing the Food Service Helpdesk to document, assign, and resolve tickets.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with our Systems Analyst on joint projects, and work collaboratively with all Technology, Food Service, and District staff members to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Problem Resolution: Respond onsite and remotely to food service-related issues, and assist in the diagnosis and resolution of helpdesk issues as requested.
  • Training and Development: Instruct food service staff on helpdesk-related software and equipment, and provide coaching and guidance as needed.
  • Asset Management: Assist in the intake, repair, and return of food service devices to Springfield Public School sites and the Culinary and Nutrition Center, and maintain accurate inventory of printers, printer toner, and other technology-related items.
  • Student Direct Certification: Assist with student direct certification, and maintain, edit, and update student records in our Franklin database system.
  • Breakfast in the Classroom: Maintain oversight of our Breakfast in the Classroom meal ordering application, and ensure accurate and timely ordering and delivery of meals.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Relevant associate degree required, or educational requirement may be substituted for at least 3 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with data/management systems, experience with helpdesk and inventory system software, and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to take responsibility of duties, work independently with guidance as needed, and prioritize and assign work.
  • Physical Demands: Valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle required, and ability to frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift 50 pounds.
