About the Role:

The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for implementing and managing the quality control program in collaboration with the project superintendent. This individual will coordinate the activities of multiple quality control engineers on one or more projects, working closely with the project manager and project superintendent to resolve quality control issues to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the start-up and implementation of the six-step quality control/safety process, including the development of the quality control plan, quality process log, test register, and quality point files.
  • Assist with the development of preparatory meeting agendas and participate in preparatory meetings prior to the start of each definable feature of work.
  • Interface directly with owner's quality assurance and management on all quality-related issues.
  • Review initial and follow-up inspection reports, punch list items, and close-in inspection results.
  • Be fully aware of the contract, plans, specifications, and applicable codes, and submit and review RFIs to ensure changes are implemented in the field.
  • Receive trade partner test and inspection requests and produce a coordinated test and inspection schedule.
  • Document and submit a daily report of quality control activity.
  • Audit trade partner quality control procedures and report chronic problems with trade partner work or quality control programs to upper management.
  • Participate in the selection process for outside testing contractors and verify adherence to testing standards, frequency, and documentation.
  • Evaluate and develop QC personnel.

Requirements:

  • A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management, or similar experience in a related position.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' experience on large commercial construction projects.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer software proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD.
