We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals. This role plays a critical part in providing top-notch patient care and advancing the field of clinical pharmacy.

**About the Job**

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will be responsible for delivering a range of services, including rounding with physicians and other healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy management. They will also participate in training pharmacy students and residents, assist with policy development, and contribute to local and system-level committees and workgroups.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, ensuring safe and appropriate use of antimicrobial drugs throughout the institution.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including drug information, drug therapy monitoring, patient-specific consultations, and healthcare staff education
  • Investigate and report adverse drug reactions
  • Participate in the Medication Safety and Therapeutics (MS&T) Committee process, evaluating requests for new drug usage and reviewing therapeutic classes
  • Serve as an informational and patient problem-solving resource for clinical pharmacists and other healthcare professionals
  • Document clinical activities and provide continuing education to clinical pharmacist staff
  • Act as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students

**Requirements and Qualifications**

  • Doctorate degree in pharmacy with completion of an ASHP-accredited residency or 3-5 years of experience in the practice area
  • Experience as a pharmacist with training in drug therapy of diseases, including knowledge and application of clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, drug-drug interactions, and pharmaceutics
  • Strong computer systems skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
  • Registered Pharmacist (R.Ph.) licensure in the State of Ohio
