About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe System Programmer to join our team at Ensono. As a key member of our Mainframe Systems Programming team, you will be responsible for providing premium DB2 sysprog support and services to our mainframe clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert-level support for DB2 systems, including administration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform mainframe database software upgrades and maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with vendor personnel to resolve database issues and implement timely solutions.
  • Develop and maintain DR procedures and ensure overall support of customer needs and requests.
  • Perform database optimizations, including general reporting and analysis of database configuration and performance.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities and provide support on a 24/7 basis.
  • Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for mainframe z/OS customers in a timely manner.
  • Provide primary support for reported problems related to DB2 tables spaces.
  • Assist in the migration of newly acquired customers to DB2 and related OEM software products.
  • Collaborate with Disaster Recovery Services to execute tasks associated with customer disaster recovery plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in DB2 administration and systems programming support.
  • Knowledge of best practices in software management, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Experience with SMP/e, DB2 in a parallel sysplex environment, and CA and IBM tools for DB2.
  • Ability to develop innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices in software management.
  • Experience with establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, DR, security, maintenance, and utilization.
  • Ability to evaluate change requests and determine impact to assigned clients and troubleshooting and solving production database issues.
  • Experience with supporting DB2 security requests and reviewing DB2 security to find potential risks.
  • Ability to review, tune, and reorganize application data, internal DB2 buffer pools, and SQL code.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests from multiple clients.
