Position Overview

Lead Network Security Engineer

Location: Remote

Team Insight:

The Network Security team plays a crucial role in safeguarding the SS&C enterprise network. Our responsibilities include managing firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), and various network security components. We also facilitate secure application delivery and collaborate with both internal business units and SS&C clients to ensure a secure and stable operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical expert in networking and security systems.
  • Identify, research, and assess security solutions and emerging technologies that align with the strategic objectives of the organization.
  • Possess a robust understanding of security principles, including HTTP compliance, application-level security, and endpoint protections.
  • Oversee the deployment of new security technologies while maintaining existing security infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with APIs.
  • Effectively collaborate with various business units and coordinate efforts across multiple teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Expertise in network routing and switching
  • Understanding of firewall concepts and functionalities
  • Experience with WAF and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS)
  • Knowledge of proxy and user access management
  • Proficiency in VPN access, both site-to-site and end-user
  • Familiarity with Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) and server load balancing techniques
  • Experience with TLS protocols
  • Understanding of HTTP protocols
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and automation practices
  • Capability to provide Tier 3 operational support

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Firewall technologies: ASA, PaloAlto, and Juniper SRX
  • Router and Switch: Cisco CCNP level expertise
  • F5 technologies: ASM, DNS, APM, AFM, including knowledge of iRules
  • Experience with reverse proxy solutions (Kemp/NGINX/HA Proxy)
  • Familiarity with user proxy technologies
  • Experience with Cloudflare WAF/DDoS protection
  • Knowledge of Network Access Control (NAC) implementations (ClearPass, ISE)
  • Experience in Public Cloud Security, particularly AWS
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
  • Understanding of attack surface management
  • Knowledge of penetration testing techniques and methodologies
