Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Powder Coating Specialist to join our team at O. A. Newton. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various painting techniques, including powder coating and sandblasting, on a range of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare parts for coating by cleaning, masking, and applying coatings as required.
  • Operate coating equipment, including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems, to ensure efficient and high-quality coating processes.
  • Monitor machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects and ensure optimal coating performance.
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality through visual inspections or using viscometers.
  • Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations to achieve desired coating results.
  • Ensure all components are produced and coated efficiently, meeting company goals for quality and customer order on-time performance.
  • Implement and maintain quality standards and processes throughout the facility.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Load and unload parts or products onto fixtures, and perform routine maintenance on coating equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of experience and/or training in powder coating and sandblasting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques, and effectively communicate and understand job instructions in the English language.
  • Mathematical skills, including ability to perform basic computations and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning ability, including ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Physical demands, including ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane/forklift, and lift lbs. when required.
Work Environment

The work environment at O. A. Newton is characterized by moderate to high noise levels. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
