Position Overview: The Production Engineering Specialist serves as the key technical authority within Vanguard's manufacturing processes, acting as the primary liaison to ensure products are developed accurately and efficiently.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients on various technical matters and address inquiries effectively.
  • Contribute to the estimation process by assessing labor, tooling, and other costs related to fulfilling client specifications.
  • Recognize when client demands surpass internal capabilities and spearhead initiatives to enhance processes, infrastructure, and equipment to meet those needs.
  • Utilize data from process development and new product introduction (NPI) builds to provide timely feedback to clients, ensuring effective communication that maximizes value.
  • Guarantee compliance with all customer and regulatory standards throughout Vanguard's operations.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for defects, yield enhancements, and quality escapes.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data to drive actionable insights.
  • Oversee the creation, coordination, review, and approval of internal product documentation.
  • Assist in resolving supply chain and electronic component issues.
  • Identify and communicate tooling, fixturing, and equipment needs, leading their design, procurement, and validation.
  • Assess and mitigate risks using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) or similar methodologies.
  • Provide hands-on support during NPI and pilot production runs to ensure effective processes and real-time issue resolution.
  • Deliver technical training to technicians and operators.
  • Employ Design of Experiments (DOE) to establish new processes and enhance existing ones.
  • Support production staff in addressing arising challenges.
  • Lead and collaborate on process improvement initiatives with the team.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in electronics manufacturing.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred:

  • Proficient in interpreting Electrical and Mechanical CAD/Drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of Design for Excellence (DFX) for electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Extensive experience with SMT & Through-Hole Soldering, Component Preparation, Automated Inspection Systems, and related processes.
  • Ability to challenge requirements with technical rationale and collaboratively develop more effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and executing Design of Experiments.
  • Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and manufacturing data analysis.
  • Knowledge of material science relevant to material selection and assembly processes.
  • Experience with ISO9001 / AS9100 / ISO13485 quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards and business systems such as MES, PLM, ERP.
