FULL TIME POSITION
Hours: 11am-8pm. Compensation is based on experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Dining Room Server, you will play a vital role in our Assisted Living and Independent Living Communities. Your primary duty will be to take meal orders and serve food to residents in the dining area, as well as assist during special events.

In addition to serving, you will support the food service department with various tasks, including setting up dining areas and maintaining cleanliness.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare the dining room and tables prior to meal service, ensuring proper setup with linens, centerpieces, dishware, and utensils.
  • Assist residents in selecting menu items and taking orders in a restaurant-style format. Collect meal tickets as necessary.
  • Prepare and plate food items in the kitchen, adding garnishes and condiments as required.
  • Serve meals according to established etiquette and ensure that any special requests are accommodated.
  • Input orders into the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately.
  • Regularly check on diners to address their needs, clear empty dishes, and refill beverages as necessary.
  • Promptly bus tables and deliver soiled linens and dishware to the appropriate area.
  • Adhere to proper food handling and sanitation protocols throughout the service process.
  • Complete assigned cleaning tasks, including restocking supplies, folding napkins, and maintaining cleanliness in dining areas.
  • Deliver meals to residents' apartments upon request.
  • Assist with special duties during events, such as serving beverages or appetizers.
  • Follow all safety and infection control guidelines to ensure a secure environment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to the department manager.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and evacuation protocols.
  • Safeguard resident confidentiality and contribute to a safe community environment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A genuine passion for working with older adults, demonstrating patience and understanding of their needs.
  • Knowledge of health department regulations related to sanitation and food safety.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to perform job duties consistently.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to safely operate sharp tools and kitchen equipment.
  • Experience with POS systems is beneficial.
  • Prior experience serving large groups is an advantage.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Individuals under 18 must meet the necessary qualifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing and walking for the majority of the workday.
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
