Job Summary

The Tax Analyst - State and Local plays a critical role in ensuring Subaru of America, Inc. and its subsidiaries comply with state and local corporate income tax obligations. This position supports the tax management team by handling tax audits, resolving discrepancies with tax authorities, and coordinating tax-related activities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews and responds to notices and other correspondence received from taxing authorities.
  • Determines response that is required and works with manager if needed to ensure that state and local tax matters are properly addressed.
  • Discusses and corresponds with tax authorities to resolve discrepancies and obtain guidance.
  • Researches and gathers documentation and other support necessary to resolve issues.
  • Provides support for tax audits.
  • Supports the preparation of state and local corporate income and franchise tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Consults and coordinates with external tax providers.
  • Coordinates tax payments with Accounts Payable group.
  • Maintains quarterly/annual IFRIC 23 uncertain tax positions calculations.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • Relevant experience in tax compliance.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, as well as federal, state, and local corporate income and franchise taxes.
  • Well-organized.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks, and deliver results in a dynamic work environment.
  • Commitment to achieving a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
  • Self-driven with a desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Ability to focus on solving the problem and developing solutions that work for the long term.
Work Environment

This is a hybrid role, with remote work 2 days per week (after 90 days onboarding). Travel is less than 5%.

Compensation

The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $67,900 - 90,000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
