**Job Summary**



Metalico is seeking a reliable CDL Driver with a Class B license to join our team. As a key member of our transportation operations, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering and picking up metal containers at customer sites.



Responsibilities



  • Safe Driving Practices:


    • Deliver and pick up containers in accordance with DOT regulations and speed limits.

    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every truck driven daily.

    • Complete required paperwork accurately and submit it to the transportation manager at the end of each workday.

    • Ensure safe material distribution and securing of loads by using tarps as required and tying down the load.

    • Responsible for maneuvering the truck at customer sites in a safe and accident-free manner.

    • Monitor the truck’s mechanical functions to ensure they are maintained in accordance with maintenance/DOT schedules.

    • Aware of materials allowed for hauling and materials not allowed for hauling (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS).

    • Prohibited from dialing, holding a mobile phone to ear, and texting while driving.

    • Prioritize safety, follow all safety rules, and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

    • Participate in mandatory scheduled safety meetings.

    • In the event of an accident/injury, if physically able, the driver must immediately call and report to the transportation manager for next steps. Take photos if possible and wait for Metalico personnel or police to respond.

    • Ensure the truck is kept clean inside and out.

    • Willing to switch from one type of truck to another (e.g., tractor to Roll Off or from a Roll off to a straight truck) pending on business needs.



  • Qualifications:


    • Class B License Required

    • Class A license a plus

    • 2+ years of driving experience preferred

    • A clean driving record is a plus



  • Customer Service:


    • Pick up and deliver containers at customer sites timely and efficiently.

    • Provide customers with appropriate paperwork and obtain customer signatures on dispatch tickets.

    • Represent Metalico in a professional and courteous manner.

    • Communicate all customer needs/concerns to the transportation manager.

    • Considerate of not overextending their presence at customer sites, if anything goes wrong (property damage, spills, injuries...), the driver must immediately call and report the incident to the transportation manager for resolution.

    • Maintain a positive relationship with yard staff and understand departmental requirements and how each function impacts others within the organization.



  • Requirements:


    • Must be able to enter and exit the truck cab using foot and hand holds.

    • Depending on the need, one must be able to exert force for pushing and pulling. Able to stoop, bend, twist, balance, climb, crouch, and kneel.

    • Straight Truck Drivers – physical job, able to push, and pull heavy wagons/containers. Physical limitations must be reported immediately to the Supervisor.

    • Applicants must be registered in the Federal DOT Clearinghouse. A job offer is contingent on a pre-hire physical, including drug screening, criminal background screening, and MVR report.
