Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse Job Description

GIII Harvesting is seeking skilled farmworkers and laborers to join our team in a variety of roles, including crop and greenhouse work, farm equipment operation, and general maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform job duties as assigned by the supervisor, varying from time to time depending on crop and weather.
  • Unload trucks with seed corn from harvest, hand sort rogue ears of corn, operate husking equipment, load and unload ear corn dryers, shell and sample corn.
  • Detassel seed corn, removing tassels from stalks without damaging them.
  • Maintain fields, including installing and repairing irrigation, weeding corn fields with a hoe, rouging, detasseling, bagging, seed conditioning, harvesting, husking, sorting, and drying seed.
  • Operate various farm equipment and vehicles, including field trucks, tractors, and forklifts, while following safety protocols.
  • Perform general maintenance and light mechanical work on farm and field equipment, as well as repairs around the farm and to farm equipment, seed storage building, and fencing.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of farm equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
