About the Role

The University of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Breast Cancer Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our General Surgery department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of delivering world-class healthcare.

About the Department

Our General Surgery department at the University of Chicago Medicine focuses on a broad range of diseases, including various types of cancer, endocrine disorders, esophageal diseases, bariatric surgical treatment, breast diseases, and more. Our surgeons are trained to use minimally invasive techniques, including robotic and laparoscopic approaches, to ease the patient's surgical experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Obtain medical history and perform physical assessments.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe medications as set forth in delegation of prescriptive authority.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with breast cancer.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Perform procedures in clinic, such as cyst/seroma aspirations and abscess drainages.
  • Support faculty clinics and contribute to the development of patient education programs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in breast cancer treatment and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Current licensure/registration in the State of Illinois required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (or equivalent) from an accredited school/college of nursing or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA).
  • Clinical experience in a related area of specialty.
