Job Overview

A&B Environmental Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician - Sample Receiving Specialist to join our team in [Location]. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory, handling samples from various industries with precision and care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and log samples into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely processing.
  • Verify sample conditions, reporting any discrepancies to the project manager or client as necessary.
  • Properly store samples in accordance with established protocols, adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Notify analysts of samples requiring immediate attention for analysis, facilitating efficient workflow.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to customer inquiries, and transfer calls to relevant staff members as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of our Quality Assurance Plan, performing tasks and recording results as assigned by supervisors, QA, or management.
  • Prepare bottle kits and arrange shipping, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure housekeeping in work areas is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and minimize fire and safety hazards.
  • Understand and follow EPA and other environmental protocols and procedures, upholding company policies and the Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Perform all work according to written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., environmental science, biology) or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in laboratory settings, preferably in customer service and sampling roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and experience with LIMS systems are required.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and handle hazardous materials safely.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
