Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Aide to join our team at Brevard County. As a Recreation Aide, you will be responsible for conducting games, special events, arts and crafts, and other group activities at a County recreation area.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct games, special events, arts and crafts, and other group activities at a County recreation area.
  • Work with children and adults in a team environment.
  • Assist with event planning and setup.
  • Provide excellent customer service to participants and visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Some experience, paid or volunteer, in leisure activities or working with children.
  • Experience utilizing personal computers, including Microsoft Office Suite and Vermont Systems Rec-Trac is preferred.
  • Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
  • The applicant will be disqualified from further consideration for the position if a Level I background criminal background investigation, performed in accordance with Brevard County Administrative Order 5 (AO-5), discloses the applicant has disqualifying convictions (AO-5).
  • In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
Working Conditions

The Recreation Aide will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The employee must be able to work in a team environment and provide excellent customer service to participants and visitors. The employee must also be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

The employee must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. The employee must also be able to drive a vehicle and operate foot controls. The employee must repetitively perform fine manipulation, operating foot controls, pulling, pushing, and simple grasping.

The employee must be able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, dig, jump, kneel, reach, run, smell, stoop, and have good distant vision, good hearing, good near vision, good speech, and use of both eyes.

The employee must also be able to work in a variety of environments, including at heights above/below ground level, in cold, in dampness or chilly conditions, in heat, in high humidity, in or with dusty conditions, in or with moving objects or vehicles, in or with noisy conditions, on or with ladders or scaffolding, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and with chemicals or solvents.
