Essential Responsibilities of the Hotel Operations Director:

Revenue Management:

  1. Collaborate with the Revenue Management team to provide insights on competitor pricing and market trends.
  2. Support sales initiatives as directed by upper management.
  3. Ensure that the sales and front office teams are well-informed about pricing structures and trained in yield management techniques.
  4. Utilize the designated revenue management system to maximize financial returns.

Financial Performance:

  1. Develop the annual budget by forecasting operational expenses and labor costs.
  2. Manage costs effectively by aligning labor schedules with business demands and controlling utility expenses.
  3. Adjust controllable expenses based on revenue forecasts to maintain profit margins.
  4. Safeguard the financial assets of the company by adhering to established financial protocols.
  5. Achieve satisfactory results in internal audits and address any identified issues.
  6. Implement purchasing policies in accordance with company standards.

Guest Experience:

  1. Train staff to deliver exceptional guest service in line with company standards.
  2. Address guest complaints directly and work to resolve issues promptly.
  3. Oversee the guest satisfaction guarantee process and ensure service quality.
  4. Manage the frequent guest program according to company policies.
  5. Achieve high scores in guest satisfaction surveys and implement improvements as needed.

Employee Engagement:

  1. Recruit, train, and motivate staff to deliver outstanding service and achieve revenue goals.
  2. Administer human resources policies and ensure fair treatment of all associates.
  3. Develop potential management candidates in line with company guidelines.
  4. Exhibit leadership by conducting business in a professional manner and adhering to ethical standards.
  5. Maintain acceptable levels of employee turnover and satisfaction.

Quality Assurance:

  1. Ensure guest satisfaction by maintaining the hotel’s physical condition according to quality standards.
  2. Contribute to the annual capital budget and manage its implementation.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management or Business Administration. Equivalent experience is acceptable.

Experience: 3-5 years as a Hotel Operations Director or 5 years as an Assistant General Manager in a luxury hotel environment.

Skills:

  • Proficient in various software applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Capability to sit or stand for long durations.
  • Flexibility in work hours and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to respond to interruptions while providing service.
