Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at New Castle Nursing & Rehab. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance schedules are followed, reporting accidents/incidents, and coordinating daily maintenance services with nursing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, no matter how minor they may be
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures
  • Clean windows and screens as directed
  • Replace burned-out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform cleaning duties wherever necessary
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed
  • Ensure maintenance supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary
  • Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested
  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information
  • Inform residents when it is necessary to move their personal possessions
Requirements
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th-grade education
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas
  • Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices
  • Mathematical skills to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
