Job Overview
In a K-12 educational setting, the Culinary Specialist is responsible for a range of tasks including sanitation, food preparation, inventory management, and service in a commercial kitchen or dining area.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manually or mechanically cleans kitchen items and equipment.
  • Organizes and stores dishes, utensils, and cookware in designated areas efficiently.
  • Maintains adequate stock levels of various food items and supplies in preparation and serving areas.
  • Restocks storage spaces with necessary products.
  • Performs cleaning duties across dining, kitchen, and storage areas, including floors and equipment.
  • Disposes of waste from designated areas and assists in setting up or dismantling dining arrangements.
  • Participates in scheduled deep cleaning tasks as required.
  • Supports chefs and kitchen staff as needed, coordinating activities effectively.
  • May assist in food preparation, including cooking vegetables, entrees, and beverages.
  • Additional responsibilities relevant to the department's objectives may be assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Proficiency in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience or vocational training demonstrating knowledge of kitchen operations and cleaning processes.
  • Some positions may require a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record for insurance eligibility.
