About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Archaeological Field Lead to join our team at ERM LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and monitoring/surveying services for archaeological resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and support for archaeological field surveys and monitoring efforts.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and detailed field notes.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and project teams.
  • Conduct field surveys, report writing, and monitoring efforts to ensure compliance with corporate Health, Safety, and Environment protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
  • Archaeological field school or prior archaeological field survey experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in the field with a Master's degree, 4+ years of experience in the field with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.
  • Ability to work weekends and over 40 hours per week when needed.
  • Working knowledge of archaeological survey protocols.
  • Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time.
  • Must meet criteria identified in Job Demands & Conditions Analysis for Office and Field Positions.
  • Knowledge of California archaeology preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery.
  • Must have strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agency personnel preferred.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated business development abilities.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be locally available for projects.
  • Must be able to walk long distances (up to ten miles per day) in varying terrain under adverse conditions, including inclement weather, wildlife encounters, and able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and able to excavate shovel tests.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles.
