Job Summary

As a Site Survey Engineer at Astound Broadband, you will play a key role in developing a strong team of Site Survey Engineers focused on delivering cutting-edge telecommunications services to residential and commercial customers. Your expertise will be essential in assessing the feasibility and functional needs of deploying Astound services into Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs) to reduce sales cycles and construction times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and training to lower-level team members
  • Conduct and support microwave and millimeter wave analyses, interference analysis, and frequency coordination
  • Provide technical consultation and solutions to other organizations
  • Conduct site visits and experimental investigations, analyze microwave and/or millimeter problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Write requirements documents, theories of operation, operations manuals, etc.
  • Perform site surveys, identify potential build pathways, and provide solutions for deployment
  • Create preliminary build plans and budgets, including construction requirements and bill of materials
  • Document site surveys with all required documents, including photos and notes
  • Manage and drive the progress of each new building through the review process
  • Communicate specific needs of each potential building to parties involved to ensure proper information flow and successful project completion
  • Obtain BID documents from vendors with assistance from immediate Manager or higher-level PM
  • Build schedules and coordinate efforts with Property Management, Customers, Internal Team, and Vendors
  • Perform PMIs and correct potential issues
  • Create appropriate build history/documentation
  • Install, inspect, and troubleshoot network equipment, including microwave radios, routers, switches, and WiFi equipment
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate to expert experience in physical, data-link, and network protocols and architectures; routers, firewalls, and switches; system load balancing and redundant system architecture
  • OSHA and Safety competent
  • Demonstrated understanding of physical network construction and installations
  • Understanding of fiber design and construction, both outside plant and inside plant
  • Understanding of millimeter-wave and microwave communications equipment; specifically point-to-point links
  • Able to set up and/or design simple to complex networks involving Cisco switches and routers
  • Demonstrates ability to diagnose and solve problems
  • Exhibits ability to follow direction and possesses ability to follow through
  • Must enjoy the challenge of technical concepts and communicate those concepts at varying levels
