Position Overview:

The role of the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) I is critical in safeguarding our national interests through effective information security management. This position involves ensuring compliance with security protocols and maintaining the integrity of our information systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and update Authorization Packages for Automated Information Systems (AIS).
  • Notify stakeholders of any changes impacting AIS authorization.
  • Conduct self-assessments and security reviews of AIS.
  • Identify vulnerabilities within AIS and implement necessary countermeasures.
  • Represent the organization in technical reviews and inspections.
  • Perform security evaluations at various facilities and compile necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate and track AIS inspections and related reports.
  • Maintain security records and prepare agreements for network operations.
  • Generate reports detailing the status of security measures for computer systems.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies for the operation and maintenance of AIS.
  • Support both internal and external clients in ISSO duties.
  • Assist in the development of assessment and authorization efforts for defense and national agencies.
  • Oversee and facilitate AIS training programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • Must meet certification requirements as outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2 within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with current security policies and manuals.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with various personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Demonstrated originality and initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel as required within the designated area of responsibility.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
  • Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
