Drainage and Stormwater Design Engineer

Michael Baker International is seeking a skilled Drainage and Stormwater Design Engineer to join our Water Practice in Hamilton, NJ. This role requires a Civil Engineer with over 5 years of experience in drainage design, stormwater management, and hydrology and hydraulics. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Project Managers and Department Managers as a task leader and technical designer on drainage and stormwater management design projects.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of stormwater management principles and be able to leverage their engineering knowledge and skills to assist in the preparation of studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation and calculations. They will also be responsible for reviewing other team members' work and coordinating the design, schedule, and budget for drainage designs.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and the ability to work with and lead a team. They will also be responsible for leading and assisting with the preparation of regulatory agency submissions and making field visits to project sites to investigate, record, and photograph local conditions.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 5+ years of related experience with drainage design, stormwater management, and hydrology and hydraulics. They will also have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (EIT) and PE preferred.
They will be organized, determined, and able to multitask and prioritize competing project obligations. They will also have strong English language skills, written and verbal, and be able to quickly get up to speed on our policy, procedures, and relevant software.
The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation, Esri ArcGIS software, and H&H modeling software such as Hydraflow, PondPack, and HEC-RAS. They will also be familiar with clients such as NJDOT, NJTA, SJTA, NJTPA, NYCDEP, Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission, North Hudson Sewerage Authority, City of Newark, FEMA, NJDEP, New Jersey American Water, County and Local MUAs, and PANYNJ.
The approximate compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $113,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
