Position Overview:
As an Aircraft Sheet Metal Assembly Technician, you will play a vital role in the fabrication of premium aircraft components and assemblies. Your expertise will be essential in adhering to technical drawings, process specifications, and other manufacturing directives to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct aircraft sheet metal structural assemblies, including critical components such as wing spars, fuselage sections, and associated flight control surfaces.
- Utilize various tools to drill, countersink, dimple, ream, and chamfer holes on structural assemblies, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.
- Modify assemblies to achieve proper fit and maintain design tolerances, including rivet edge distances and other critical features.
- Apply sealants to pressurized fuselage sections and other structural joints as required.
- Operate routers and grinders for precision tasks, such as cabin window installations and structural joints.
- Install mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components as part of the assembly process.
- Conduct inspections of your work and that of your teammates, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain adherence to company quality assurance and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to address quality issues promptly and effectively.
- Assist in reworking discrepancies and performing necessary repairs and modifications.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance and operational efficiency.
- Partner with senior colleagues to gain practical knowledge and skills essential for your career development.
- Comply with all safety and environmental protocols, including tool control and workplace organization.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant experience in sheet metal assembly.
- Preferred experience of 3 years for the Aircraft Sheet Metal Assembly Technician position.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, including potential overtime.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and manufacturing instructions.
Physical and Mental Demands:
This position requires the ability to perform a full range of motion and maintain visual and manual dexterity. Candidates should be able to lift up to 35 lbs and endure prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment are essential.
Working Environment:
The role primarily takes place indoors, with occasional outdoor work. Candidates may encounter various environmental factors, including chemical agents and moving equipment.
