Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Lead Baker will oversee the daily operations of the bakery, ensuring high-quality production of baked goods while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This role is essential in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests at Zermatt Resort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the bakery manager to align production with demand based on occupancy and event orders.
  • Prepare and bake a variety of desserts, breads, and other food items essential for the bakery's success.
  • Set a positive example in all baking activities, fostering a sense of urgency and teamwork among staff.
  • Support the training and development of new team members.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure all products meet food safety and quality standards.
  • Regularly check inventory levels to maintain stock of pastries and minimize waste.
  • Contribute to the development of the bakery menu in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
  • Adhere to established standards, procedures, and controls.
  • Assist with the ordering and receiving of food items and supplies.
  • Lead efforts to maintain cleanliness in the bakery and storage areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a bakery, preferably within a hotel or resort environment.
  • Proficiency in modern European pastries, desserts, and bread-making techniques.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Self-motivated and driven individual.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid Utah Food Handler Permit.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage regulations in the State of Utah is preferred.

The bakery operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet business needs.
