About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer to join our Central Engineering department at Ocado Group. As a Product Support Engineer with a focus on Controls, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our automation products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical support to our customers and internal teams, resolving complex issues related to automation and control systems.
  • Collaborate with our Product Development colleagues to ensure successful handover of new products and developments.
  • Work closely with our Technical Support colleagues to provide timely and clear field mark-ups of product documentation.
  • Ensure that all necessary information is available to enable our teams to work up quality and supply chain-related issues or solutions.
  • Report and escalate field visit and product issue information to our technical support colleagues and product engineers as required.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a field service engineering role within manufacturing, automotive, airports, or FMCG distribution environments.
  • Strong knowledge of automation control, sensors, and actuators, as well as experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based control systems.
  • Excellent technical and practical competence relating to automation and general engineering.
  • Aptitude to debate detail with both internal and external parties.
  • Skilled in the use of small hand tools and field test & measurement equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a safe manner and appreciating the implications and requirements of relevant product safety and compliance.
  • Knowledge of Siemens TIA portal (V14/V15/V16) and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, etc.).
  • Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Siemens safety PLC and experience with functional safety systems.
  • Experience using Beckhoff control systems.
  • Technical / Engineering qualification, to HND level in a relevant field.
