Position Objective:


The role involves daily monitoring and basic operations of plant and pump/booster stations, conducting routine laboratory tests, and performing basic corrective and preventative maintenance tasks.


Key Responsibilities:
Operates machinery manually and via instrumentation panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units, adhering to process control protocols. Observes and records operating conditions in a shift log, diagnosing operational issues and implementing corrective actions as per established procedures.


Conducts routine CLAIR (cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection, and minor repair) on various machines and related equipment, including pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed systems, odor control, disinfection equipment, vacuum filters, and belt presses.

Documents work performed and enters data into the appropriate database, promptly reporting any operational issues with machinery or equipment to the Lead or Supervisor.

Collects samples of water, wastewater, industrial waste, groundwater, sludge, residuals, and/or gas according to a predetermined schedule. Performs field tests (chemical, physical, and biological) to calibrate chemical dosages for process and odor control units. Prepares chemical solutions, monitors inventory, and recommends reordering as necessary.

Conducts routine laboratory tests and prepares reports following established procedures.


Performs routine calibration of portable meters, including but not limited to, dissolved oxygen, pH, H2S, percent oxygen, and lower explosive limit.

Develops skills in mechanical troubleshooting to identify necessary repairs.

Dismantles equipment to access and repair defective components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing devices.

Reassembles and tests equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation is restored. Gains proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic equipment and instrumentation.


Engages in manual labor, including cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds as required, while ensuring proper disposal of waste in accordance with safety and environmental policies.

Operates vehicles, mobile equipment, and material handling equipment for operational and maintenance tasks.


Performs facility maintenance and repairs, which may include replacing or installing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, damaged glass, windows, doors, partitions, ceiling or floor tiles, door locks, carpets, and/or painting.


Work Environment:
Spends 100% of the time in an operational environment.

Typically spends 25 – 35% of time exposed to outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.

Company service vehicles are utilized as needed.

May require travel for company-provided training.

May serve on a rotational 24-hour emergency on-call basis.

Potential Work Hazards:

May encounter operational hazards such as fumes, dust, toxic and caustic chemicals, noise, rotating machinery, high pressure, extreme temperatures, slippery surfaces, water, and electrical hazards.
