Cybersecurity Systems Assurance Specialist
WOOD Consulting Services, Inc. is in search of a Cybersecurity Systems Assurance Specialist to aid in the architecture, development, and implementation of cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions.
Security Clearance Requirements
All applicants must be U.S. Citizens and hold an Active Secret clearance with the potential to secure TS/SCI. Candidates must also be eligible for DHS suitability prior to commencing employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing all cybersecurity initiatives necessary to sustain Authority to Operate (ATO) for designated systems within the client's laboratory environment.
- Assisting in evaluating the current security framework of the lab and outlining future initiatives, as well as the design and execution of security measures related to laboratory systems.
- Collaborating with security personnel to conceptualize, develop, and implement solutions addressing security requirements.
- Formulating and advancing the client's IT security strategies.
- Collecting and organizing technical data regarding the lab's mission objectives, existing security solutions, and ongoing projects.
- Conducting risk evaluations, including comprehensive risk assessments.
- Providing assistance in planning, coordinating, and executing the lab's System Security Plan.
- Working with relevant stakeholders to create, revise, and uphold security-related documentation and reporting as necessary.
- Supporting various security-related tasks, which may encompass:
- Developing and maintaining Privacy Threshold Analysis and aiding in Privacy Impact Assessment.
- Creating, maintaining, and facilitating Contingency Plans and their testing.
- Establishing and updating Configuration Management Plans and Security Plans as needed.
- Developing and maintaining system Incident Response Plans.
- Conducting Annual Self-Assessments of system security controls, CND policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cyber Engineering, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.
- Ten (10) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, totaling eighteen (18) or more years.
Essential Skills
- Over 6 years of direct experience in information security management.
- Experience managing multiple complex projects that require innovative solutions.
- Ability to apply extensive knowledge across critical tasks and high-impact assignments.
- Familiarity with Computer Network Defense (CND) policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Understanding of defense-in-depth strategies and network security architecture.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documentation, including SSP, Contingency, Incident, and Configuration Management planning.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels, including with clients and internal management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of security practices in hybrid on-premise/cloud environments, hardware/software security implementations, various communication protocols, and encryption techniques/tools.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as Firewalls, SIEM, PCAP, and cloud-native security solutions.
- Understanding of boundary protection and enclaving techniques.
- Knowledge of authentication and access management technologies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across different locations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-based cybersecurity detection and incident response.
- Background in computer evidence collection, intrusion detection, computer/network forensic analysis, or data recovery.
- Prior experience with SIEM technologies (e.g., Splunk).
- Proficiency in scripting (Linux/Windows command line, Python, Perl, etc.).
- Experience with data visualization tools.
