Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Inventory Cost Accountant to join our team at our La Porte, TX location. As an Inventory Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our inventory accounting system.
Key Responsibilities- Enter data related to inventory receipts, transfers, and consumption in a timely manner daily.
- Perform costing, profitability, and other analysis as required.
- Work with the Manufacturing Inventory Supervisor to evaluate and maintain the inventory accounting system in NetSuite.
- Assist corporate accounting as directed by the Accounting Manager.
- Maintain and enhance the accuracy of the cost build-up of individual SKUs, and inventory as a whole.
- Occasionally present analytical results and/or findings to upper management.
- Coordinate and possibly execute periodic cycle counts of inventory and the annual wall-to-wall physical inventory.
- Assist the Accounting Manager to verify the physical existence of fixed assets.
- Assist accounting department members with tasks as required during heavy work-load periods.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and their application within the company.
- Critically review the accounting records for accuracy and completeness prior to sharing information with company management.
- Microsoft Office and NetSuite software systems; advanced Excel skills required.
- Ability to be self-motivated and work independently while maintaining the ability to be a team player.
- Computer proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing software, and sophisticated financial analysis software.
- Oral Comprehension & Expression: the ability to communicate, listen, and understand information and direction through spoken words and sentences.
- Speech Clarity: the ability to speak clearly so others can understand.
- Reasoning: the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction and the ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- University degree in accounting.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Experience with NetSuite preferred.
