Job Details
**Up to $15,000 Sign on Bonus, based on amount of relevant experience**
DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, recognized as Michigan's first Level I Trauma Center, has played a pivotal role in the advancement of emergency medicine and boasts one of the most active and well-equipped emergency departments in the region. The first and largest verified burn center in the state is located at Receiving, along with the state's leading 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, and Metro Detroit's first certified primary stroke center.

Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision and adhering to established protocols, the Radiologic Imaging Specialist will conduct diagnostic radiological examinations using appropriate imaging technology.
• Confirm patient identity and assess the medical record to ensure the appropriateness of the examination. Conduct patient interviews to gather, verify, or update medical history and evaluate risk factors, including medications and pregnancy.

• Clearly explain the procedure to the patient, detailing potential side effects of any administered pharmaceuticals, associated risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up care.
• Prepare equipment and obtain necessary images as per established guidelines.
• Review images, make preliminary observations, document any deviations from standard protocols, and communicate findings to the radiologist.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
• Provide post-care instructions as prescribed by the physician.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the radiology department, focusing on care quality, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
• Offer imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new staff members.
• Availability for on-call duties as required by the department.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
2. Must obtain or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by the end of the orientation period.

Skills Required

1. Strong analytical and clinical skills to determine the most suitable method for providing requested radiographs based on the patient's physical capabilities.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively instruct patients who may be experiencing physical or emotional stress; ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written requests from physicians.
3. Technical proficiency in operating imaging equipment and computers.
4. Ability to work efficiently in a complex environment and manage multiple priorities.
5. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
6. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate all types of x-ray equipment and produce high-quality diagnostic images.
