Position Overview

The Lead Solutions Architect is responsible for designing business solutions for critical strategic initiatives. This includes developing comprehensive architectures that encompass business, application/integration, data, infrastructure, platform, and security aspects.

In this capacity, you will serve as the principal subject matter expert (SME) architect for significant strategic initiatives within the PSS IT tower, leveraging extensive enterprise experience in architecture and practical solution delivery to achieve desired business outcomes.

Your role will involve anticipating emerging technologies and advising senior leadership on the strategic technical vision for the tower, playing a pivotal part in the modernization journey for the Pharmacy Services Segment (PSS) IT in alignment with the broader Enterprise IT strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive Solution Leadership: Assume ultimate accountability for driving solutions for key strategic initiatives from inception to completion, providing leadership and oversight to engineers and application architects familiar with specific domain architectures.
  • Buy vs Build Evaluation: Conduct thorough analyses to determine the best approach between purchasing and building solutions, providing recommendations based on qualitative and quantitative assessments.
  • Architecture and Design Reviews: Lead architecture design reviews, identifying gaps and recommending necessary design modifications. Actively participate in the Architecture community to promote modernization opportunities within PBM technology, considering the complexities of our IT landscape.
  • Reference Architecture Development: Guide the development of PBM-applicable reference architectures for cloud-native applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Value Pool Rationalization: Collaborate with value pool leaders and the Portfolio Management Team to rationalize the portfolio at the value pool level.
  • Proof of Concept Support: Lead and facilitate proofs-of-concept and in-depth technology explorations specific to partner technologies.
  • Cost Optimization: Engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities for cost efficiencies, focusing on simplicity, configurability, and the reduction of technical debt in Pharmacy Services applications.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of design and development experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on cloud implementation experience.
  • Expertise in cloud design and architecture for one or more public cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • In-depth knowledge of application and integration architecture, security, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of APIs and microservices-based architecture.
  • Experience with Domain Driven Design and technologies bridging modern applications with legacy infrastructure.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Digital, IT, EA, Ops, and Security teams.
  • Proficiency in modern technology stacks, including Cloud, DevSecOps, and Kafka.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the PBM Industry.
  • Cloud certification (GCP/Azure Architect).
  • Data Engineering and Machine Learning experience.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

The typical pay range for this role is between $144,000 and $288,400 annually. This range represents the base salary for all positions within this job grade. Actual salary offers will depend on various factors, including experience, education, and geographic location.
