Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide safe, therapeutic, and age-appropriate speech therapy to improve or restore communication and swallowing efficiency. They will plan the delivery of care through examination, evaluation, planning, implementation, and re-assessment of human language, voice, speech, and swallowing disorders.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and re-assess human language, voice, speech, and swallowing disorders using appropriate tests and measures.
- Establish a plan of care with measurable short-term and long-term goals.
- Interact and collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and healthcare goals.
- Reassess patient progress toward short-term and long-term goals and modify the plan of care accordingly.
- Educate patients and families regarding patient status and plans of care.
- Provide home exercise programs to patients and families.
- Complete and maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation reflecting the assessment, examination, plan of care, education, intervention, and evaluation according to Federal, Department of Health, and The Joint Commission requirements.
- Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
- Current and valid NYS Speech and Language Pathology license and registration.
- 1-2 years in a hospital or medically related environment with experience in communication, cognition, communication disorders, and dysphagia.
- Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, critical thinking, and customer service skills.
