Job Title: Operations Manager

Ingredion is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the Grind and Utilities Unit processes and personnel at our Cedar Rapids plant. As a key member of the plant leadership team, you will be responsible for safely and cost-effectively executing unit operational strategies that support site and divisional goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Cedar Rapids Unit Department in all aspects of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), including ensuring all reporting requirements are met, investigating incidents and injuries, and developing annual EHS objectives.
  • Drive operations, process engineering, and maintenance activities to meet unit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including EHS, Quality, Production, Cost Control, Energy Conservation, and Site Sustainability.
  • Direct unit assets and personnel to execute production activities in support of business operating plans, monitoring plant output and communicating plan deviations to site leadership.
  • Evaluate, plan, coordinate, prioritize, and recommend capital expenditures and process changes to maintain and improve business efficiencies, facility life, or product performance specifications.
  • Prioritize maintenance needs of the unit, participating in Reliability Excellence and fostering a culture of ownership and reliability within the unit organization.
  • Ensure available raw materials are processed to provide maximum benefit to the business, producing products of quality and quantity to meet projected internal and external customer needs.
  • Identify and drive execution of unit Continuous Improvement efforts in support of unit and site KPIs, leading Lean Management System activities for the unit.
  • Direct the implementation and maintenance of cost awareness, control, and reduction programs to meet or improve upon financial goals of the unit and plant, protecting investment in current and future capital assets.
  • Coordinate activities with other plants and company functional groups to meet overall plant and company goals and strategies.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to manage the hourly workforce in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and in line with Plant Rules.
  • Support Performance management activities and site development efforts to enhance the capability and provide ongoing personal development for salaried staff.
  • Institutionalize an atmosphere that stresses employee accountability, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

This role is well-suited for individuals with a strong overall knowledge of manufacturing operations, processes, and customer base, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to lead in a team environment, motivate, build consensus, and foster positive relationships with team members and customers.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree plus significant experience in operations, including management of salaried and associate workforce, or equivalent in education and experience. Management experience is required, and knowledge of company and regulatory rules, policies, and procedures in the areas of GMP, ISO, quality, and safety is essential. Experience working in the food or pharmaceutical ingredients or products industry, with knowledge of Corn Wet Milling Manufacturing operations, processes, and customer base, is a plus. Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies and Lean Six Sigma tools is preferred. Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office Software applications is required.
