Role Overview:

As an Educational Support Specialist, you will provide tailored supervision and guidance to assigned students while supporting the core classroom staff. Your role will involve:

  • Collaborating with classroom educators to cultivate a safe and welcoming atmosphere that promotes high expectations for student learning.
  • Implementing individualized and community-based instructional strategies aligned with each student's Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
  • Monitoring student engagement during lessons to ensure adherence to instructional fidelity and utilizing effective teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Tracking and encouraging individual student progress, communicating essential updates to classroom teachers.
  • Managing student behavior in accordance with established policies, working closely with educators to maintain consistency.

  • Maintaining accurate documentation of student behavior and progress, and sharing insights with relevant staff.
  • Participating in assurance and accreditation processes to uphold performance standards.
  • Engaging in school and parent advisory meetings as needed.
  • Responding positively to feedback and participating in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for those holding an associate degree or higher in education or a related field.
  • The ability to obtain a paraprofessional or similar credential.
  • Experience working with children, particularly in alternative or special education settings.
  • Skills in crisis management and independent decision-making.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and basic office software.
