As a Diesel Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the operation of our diesel equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, and keeping records.
**Job Summary:**
The Diesel Equipment Technician will work under the direction of the Service Manager to ensure the efficient operation of our diesel equipment. This includes conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts, and completing preventive maintenance schedules. The successful candidate will also be responsible for correcting vehicle deficiencies, including removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
**Responsibilities:**
* Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition
* Complete preventive maintenance schedules to keep equipment available for use
* Correct vehicle deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, and replacing major assemblies and components
* Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
* Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions and performing preventive maintenance
* Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options
**Requirements:**
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Trade school or college education in a diesel technology program preferred
* At least 5 years related work experience preferred
* Valid State or Federal A/C Certification
* At least 2 engine certification (Paccar, Cummins or Caterpillar)
* Mechanical knowledge required
* Valid Driver's License required; CDL preferred (must be willing to obtain)
* Dependable and reliable attendance required
