Job Summary:

The RN Manager of the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit is tasked with overseeing, coordinating, and assessing the nursing care delivered within the designated unit(s). This managerial role is crucial in ensuring the safe and effective provision of care while also supervising unit activities. The Manager collaborates with the Department Director to implement Performance Improvement initiatives, adhere to hospital policies and procedures, and manage the financial aspects of the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in hospital or departmental performance enhancement initiatives.
  • Conduct interviews and recruit nursing personnel.
  • Organize nursing staff schedules.
  • Act as a clinical resource for the nursing unit.
  • Advocate for nursing staff interests.
  • Assess staff performance and provide feedback.
  • Manage disciplinary actions, counseling, and professional development.
  • Contribute to the financial oversight of the assigned unit.
  • Assist in financial planning and budgeting for the unit.
  • Facilitate and lead staff meetings.
  • Coordinate unit-specific training sessions.
  • Oversee clinical operations on the unit, ensuring adherence to age-specific standards.
  • Maintain 24-hour accountability for the direction, supervision, coordination, and evaluation of unit activities and services.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the department or across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in acute care settings required.
